The Earth Rose and Welcomed

When I work I am always in dialogue with the clay, listening for its story. This piece was created from a thick slab made with clay dug in Delaware County. The shape it took in my hands and the final graceful form that was revealed through carving is the earth's story, what it asked to be. Large enough to hold salad or hot foods for a gathering of friends and inviting enough to sit quietly on display. Food safe.
