Ludmila was born in Leningrad, Russia (renamed St. Petersburg in 1991), an important center of culture and learning that is often referred to as “the Venice of the North”. She was educated at the University of St. Petersburg where she studied applied mathematics and physics. Ludmila quickly became well known as an accomplished and published scientist. It was her daughter, Katya, an admired realist artist in Europe and the United States, who encouraged Ludmila to try her hand at brushes and color. Forever drawn to the history and literature of her native country, Ludmila began painting refined miniature compositions of a happy life lived in the countryside and city. Her works have been displayed at exhibitions in Russia and the United States, including a number of shows in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
