Jack is an award-winning master woodworker and turner. His custom woodshop is located on Lake Chesdin which is near historic Petersburg, Virginia. All of Jack’s pieces are unique and naturally obtained. Each piece has its own story to tell, including the processes by which it was created. Jack does not fell trees or purchase wood for the express purpose of creating a piece. Rather, he seeks out and finds interesting pieces of wood in their natural state. The sources of wood for Jack’s pieces included felled trees, roadside findings, charred remains, rescues, waste and other items from all over the world. He gives each piece a voice by using its characteristics to determine what gets turned on the lathe. Jack has participated in juried and invitational exhibitions throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
